Some Manchester United supporters have called upon youngster Joe Hugill to start over Anthony Martial if Rasmus Hojlund is not in a position to feature against Everton this afternoon.
MEN Sport understands hurried phone calls were made to the academy at the 11th hour to get some of the youngsters, who had been given the day off, back to feature in today's matchday squad and Hugill could make his first appearance in a matchday squad.
The decision was made as injuries continue to pile up. One concern surrounds Hojlund who suffered a hamstring issue prior to the international break.

In his pre-match press conference, Erik ten Hag said a late fitness test would be required for Hojlund to see if he would be fit for the trip. If he is deemed unavailable, the likely option would be for Martial to take his place.
However, a selection of United supporters believe giving Hugill a chance would be beneficial to his development. Here is what some fans had to say on X.
Hugill spent last season on loan at National League neighbours Altrincham where he scored once in seven appearances. This campaign, the 20-year-old has been in hot goalscoring form bagging six goals in eight Premier League 2 matches and scoring in the EFL Trophy victory over Stockport County.
While some are excited about the prospect of seeing Hugill in action today, some believe Martial would be the most sensible option to start at what is likely to be a raucous Goodison Park.
