Spring is a time of renewal and new life, and it's as good a time as any to pick up a new hobby - with gardening being a very popular one.
There's nothing more rewarding than putting in the work and seeing your outdoor space come to life with the addition of trees, plants, flowers and everything in between.
Growing your own vegetables is a great way to get into gardening, and although it can seem daunting, there are a couple of different veggies that are 'surprisingly easy' to grow if you're a beginner.
That's according to TikTokker Kia, also known as @kia_urbangardener, who frequently shares helpful gardening tips and tricks with her 49.8k followers.
She has shared three different vegetables that even the most beginner of gardeners should be able to grow and reap their delicious benefits when cooking at home.
Kia admitted that she knows tomatoes are technically a fruit, but decided to include them in the video anyway as they can be a 'gateway drug' to growing your own food.
She explained: "Tomatoes are easy to grow, keep them in direct sunlight, fertilise weekly and tap the flowers to help with production of more tomatoes."
This is because these plants are self-pollinating, so giving them a nudge every now and then can help to improve your yield.
Kia described garlic as 'incredibly low maintenance', making it ideal for beginner gardeners to grow.
She continued: "It also repels a lot of pests so it's a really great option. But it does take patience, I'm talking nine months at a minimum."
It may be too late in the year to plant your garlic, as Kia recommends doing it on the shortest day of the year in winter. However, it's definitely one to keep in mind, and you'll know when it's time to pick it as the top will start to die off.
