M.E.N. reporters are in court every day to ensure that justice is done in public. And, as have other years, 2023 has brought a number of high profile cases, many of which have grabbed headlines across the world and not just across Greater Manchester.
As another year comes to a conclusion, we look back on how the work of police and prosecutors, as well as the courage and determination of victims and witnesses, has helped justice to be done.

Thomas Campbell paid the ultimate price, after being betrayed by a woman who claimed to love him. His ex-wife Coleen Campbell was found guilty of manslaughter after she plotted with the alleged mastermind of a brutal, fatal attack on him.
Thomas, 38, was tortured and then murdered during a two hour ordeal at his home in Mossley, Tameside, after being pounced on by three men.
He was dragged into home before being stabbed, strangled and beaten up, and had boiling water poured on his genitals. Three people, including Thomas's ex-wife, went on trial accused of murder and conspiring to rob Thomas, who was a convicted drug dealer.
Reece Steven, 29, one of the three men who attacked Thomas on July 2 last year, was convicted of murder following a trial which began at Bolton Crown Court in January. After the five week case, he was sentenced to life in prison, to serve a minimum of 37 years.
