Silent Witness fans were left puzzled by what appeared to be a new development in the latest series, which launched tonight, 8 January, on BBC One. For years now, main characters Doctor Nikki Alexander (played by Emilia Fox) and Jack Hodgson (David Caves) have been dancing with romance and viewers have become hooked on their will-they-won't-they plot just as much as the action.
The pair finally made their relationship official in a previous season, but after a year away from screens, fans were stunned to discover that it appeared they had gone as far as to move in together.
Straining to understand a moment that saw Jack carefully analysing a clip of the serial killer from their latest case on his laptop, fans were taken-aback when Nikki suddenly walked in through the door. All smiles, the character seemed to be showing that the property was her home too.
What's more, some eagle-eyed viewers were convinced that Jack's house had various new touches throughout, depicting a "woman's touch".
Taken away from the chilling plot, which attempted to unravel the identity of a killer with connections to a serial killer from 20 years ago, viewers were focused on the life changes within their favourite couple. Discussing their thoughts on X, formerly known as Twitter, one person posted: "Wait, do they live together now? #SilentWitness" "So Jack and Nikki are living together? #SilentWitness," another fan demanded.

You might hear the title, Driving Madeleine (French title: Une Belle Course), and then read the logline about a driver taxiing a 92-year old woman around Paris and instantly think “Aha! It is a French Driving Miss Daisy!” Well, having absolutely nothing to do with that 1989 Best Picture Oscar winner that so memorably starred Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman, the two films do have something in common. They are both irresistibly cast with exceptional veteran stars who each grab the heart and never let go.

Emilia, 49, is back for the crime show’s 26th series as forensic pathologist Nikki and despite seeing all sorts of gruesome scenes, she’s “squeamish” when it comes to actual injuries.
