ITV Corrie star trolled by viewers as they cruelly brand arrival 'stunt casting'

Coronation Street fans have branded a newcomer character as a "stunt casting". As the ITV soap continues into another year, bosses have introduced a new arrival to Weatherfield who has yet to win over some viewers. Jack Carroll, a comedian who made it to the final of Britain's Got Talent, has taken up the role of Bobby.
Bobby is the son of Rob Donovan, who is serving a life sentence in jail for the murder of Tina McIntyre in 2014. He arrived in Weatherfield and landed on Carla's doorstep, just at Peter left.
The storyline focuses on Carla's struggle when she realises that Bobby is here to stay, and his settling in on the cobbles. But many fans don't like his character, with some commenting that the already well-known TV star needs a better storline.
On the Digital Spy forum, one fan said: "Bobby seems to have gone down like a lead balloon. Not only does his introduction feel totally pointless- just like Cassie's- but it screams of stunt casting." A second posted: "If Rob had been reintroduced, it might have had some point to it, but this just feels so contrived and unnecessary. It seems like it's a complete flop so far." On X, formerly known as Twitter, one user said: "Bethany, the new lad Bobby, Ed, Summer & Sean are all totally pointless characters!" Another commented: "This Bobby lad on corrie is horrific.
