Young mum Mia Brehme was just 23 when she noticed she was bleeding whenever she went to the toilet.
Initially believing she had piles, she tried haemorrhoid cream in a bid to treat her symptoms but the bleeding always came back.
Alarm bells started to ring when her support worker noticed she had been sleeping more than usual, advising her to go and see a doctor.

In July, Mia underwent an oral examination and was referred for a colonoscopy, a test which checks the inside of the bowels.
While awaiting her results, the mum, from Leigh, became very unwell and began experiencing a lot of pain.
Just eight days after her appointment, Mia was given the heartbreaking news that she had stage 4 colon cancer and secondary cancer in her liver and lungs.
Tragically, her family have confirmed the mum passed away on November 22 at the age of 24. She leaves behind her three-year-old daughter, Kyla-Mae.
Her devastated sister, Alicia Brehme, broke down in tears as she told the Manchester Evening News: “She wasn’t well, but we didn’t think she was going to die.
“On the 21st, they told me it would be a few days, but she didn’t even make it to a day. She just wasn’t herself; she was very quiet and asleep a lot of the time. She was very weak and couldn’t even lift herself up or lift her head.
“But the Friday before she died, she was still chatty. She was still Mia – she was talking and upbeat. We thought we would have her until Christmas.”
Colorectal cancer, or colon cancer, is a disease in which cells in the colon or rectum grow out of control.
