The 16-year-old, a transgender girl, was stabbed 28 times in a park near Warrington, jurors at Manchester Crown Court have heard. Girl X, from Warrington, and Boy Y, from Leigh, both deny murder. They cannot be named for legal reasons.
On the third day of the trial, a statement was read on behalf of Esther Ghey, Brianna's mother. She said she knew Brianna had previously spent time with Girl X and that the pair had socialised after school.

"I know that she would sometimes spent time with Girl X after school," she said. "They would walk home together and go to Birchwood. "I think they also went to McDonald's."
Ms Ghey said she was asked to recall an incident in which Brianna was 'really sick'. She said Brianna was 'screaming and crying for [her] to help her'. Ms Ghey said: "She has never been like that before or like that since."
Jurors also heard of messages shared between the defendants on January 23, in which Girl X allegedly discussed trying to kill Brianna with an 'overdose'. Girl X told Boy Y: "You know that girl I mentioned, Brianna, I’m still tryna kill her and the easiest way is pill overdose pls ppl already know she is depressed and s**t so nobody would get sus but for some reason she has a high tolerance like I gave her some today that should have been enough to kill her…"
