A heartbroken family have paid tribute to a Glasgow mum with "the biggest smile" who has died after a long battle with mental health. Lindsay McDermott, 36, was tragically found dead at a property in the Thornwood area of the city on Sunday, August 20.
The mum-of-three leaves behind Ryan Cameron 14, Conlan Fury 5 and Aiden Fury, 10. Her sister-in-law, Hayley Granger, told how Lindsay's mental health had deteriorated in the weeks leading up to her death with her reaching out for support.
The 27-year-old told Glasgow Live: "Her brother had phoned us absolutely distraught on Sunday to tell us Lindsay was gone. Lindsay had been living with us until about two months ago.
"She has battled with her mental health issues for years and I'd noticed that over the last few weeks she'd been getting worse. We did manage to get her to speak to a community psychiatric nurse on Friday. Sadly on the Sunday she took her own life.
"She never had an easy life and just couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. We had to tell her boys and they were heartbroken. Their dad struggled to tell them.
"They were just inconsolable. The boys absolutely loved her. I'm only her sister-in-law but she was basically my big sister. We did everything together. She has left a hole that can't be replaced."
Her family paid tribute to the loving mum, sister and daughter. The family say they will always remember Lindsay's caring nature.
Hayley added: "Despite her struggles Lindsay always tried to be the mother figure. She has loads of brothers and a sister but she always played the mum role.
"Lindsay would do anything for anybody. You could tell at times she was struggling but she always had the biggest smile in the room."
