A horrified family have been left covered in bites after moving into a cockroach-infested council flat. The family moved into a Glasgow City Council property in Springburn on Friday, October 13, but began to notice cockroach type bugs just one day later.
The 41-year-old mum says she and her two children, aged nine and 13, were left horrified and unable to sleep or eat due to the infestation as the bugs crawled over and bit them while they slept.
Glasgow Live reports that the flat was sprayed four times over a number of days prior to the family moving in after the issue was reported in an earlier inspection. But, the treatment has not stopped the creepy crawlies.
The mum, who is being kept anonymous, said: "I was given the flat a couple weeks ago and the council said that they were going to treat it. It was only on Friday when I moved in, after they said they had treated it four times and they were gone.
"I was a bit cautious at first to move in with everything I owned in case it got infested but I decided to go ahead. It was over the weekend that I started to notice they were still there.
"They only seem to come out at night but there were hundreds of them. My daughter was only in the house for a couple hours and she was covered in bites.

"None of us have been sleeping because they are everywhere and they keep waking us up. They crawl on you in the night and we have been forced to wear thick jumpers, trousers and socks to stop them biting
"My boy's face is a mess, it's covered with the bites. We can't even eat anything in the house because they are getting into the food in the cupboards and are in the brand new cooker
