Richard Madeley has opened up about an unpleasant encounter he had with an angry Good Morning Britain viewer, who had taken against the TV presenter.
The horrifying incident occurred when he was on holiday in Cornwall with his wife Judy Finnigan, as the pair spent some time at their coastal holiday home. Recalling the confrontation on the How to be 60 podcast, Richard told host and fellow ITV star Kaye Adams: "He came right into my space, finger jabbing at my chest and he said, ‘I just want you to know that everything you’ve ever done, everything you’ve ever said or will say, I loathe and f****** despise, you c***.
"I just burst out laughing, because he was ridiculous. But honestly, I couldn’t give a f***." However, Richard insisted that the majority of people who come up to him in the street are actually quite nice, as he continued: "don’t get that sort of stuff out in the street at all.
"People are very friendly, they often come up and talk. We have intelligent sensible conversations." It comes after Richard left GMB viewers shocked when he ate a squirrel meatball live on air amid a debate about whether the food industry should introduce grey squirrels for more regular human consumption.
Taking to Twitter fans shared their surprise at Richard's decision to eat the animal, with one writing: "Richard Madeley is eating squirrels on live TV #Rodent #GoodMorningSquirrels". And another quipped: "Richard Madeley eating a squirrel burger having pushed off all the salad scores quite highly on the Partridge-o-meter" But comparisons to Steven Coogan's Alan Partridge are nothing new to Richard, having been compared to the iconic comedy character numerous times throughout his career.
