Richard Madeley has slammed “ridiculous” presenters who believed they’re more “special” than others because they’re on TV.
The GMB host was appearing on Kaye Adams’ How To Be 60 podcast when he let rip about fellow stars.
The ITV This Morning legend said: “Quite quickly I formed a contempt for people on television who thinks that it makes them in any way, shape or form special, because it doesn't!" the veteran presenter claimed.
"There are a lot of people in television on screen who it goes to their heads.
"We all know them, and you can see that they think because they have access to people's living rooms through the TV, it makes them somehow better... I just think that actually makes them look ridiculous.”
He added: "Just because you can read the autocue or learn a short piece to camera out in the field, why would you think that would make you any better than anyone else?"
The Express reports Madeley’s remarks come after daughter Chloe, who he shares with wife Judy Finnegan, admitted earlier this year that she worries about her father’s TV appearances because of his tendency to speak out without a filter.
Speaking to the Secure the Insecure podcast, Chloe, 36, also revealed she stresses if people “make fun of him” for his outspoken political views as she said: "He says what he thinks. He says what comes into his head.
"He doesn’t have much of a filter and I’m always worried like, ‘Oh God, what is he going to say?'."
Richard and Judy first started hosting This Morning in 1988 and were fan favourites of ITV daytime TV until they stepped down in 2001.
Richard regularly causes controversy on GMB with his outspoken views. Earlier this year he was forced to apologise after calling Sam Smith 'he' during an interview on the ITV
