Scots Radio 1 DJ Arielle Free was forced off the air after she interrupted a live broadcast from Ibiza Rocks hotel. The Stirling-born star appeared to fumble over her words as she launched a rude commentary at her co-star Charlie Hedges.
The 36-year-old, who hosts for the BBC station on Friday and Saturday afternoon, was booted from the airwaves less than 45 seconds in when she told Charlie that she “hated” one of the tracks she was playing, and told her she “expected better” from her set.
Charlie, 37, appeared to become annoyed with the Scots presenter's rowdy remarks. The pair had worked together previously at the Women’s FA Cup Final in May, but the tense on-air exchange left listeners feeling awkward.
Hosting live from Ibiza, those tuning in noted Arielle sounded a bit 'worse for wear,' according to reports in the Mirror, as her voice sounded croaky before she seemingly stumbled over her words in a slur whilst teasing her co-host, who didn't appear amused.
Charlie questioned whether Arielle was 'okay' before quipping that she had 'sounded better'. "Are you okay? I mean, you've sounded better," Charlie mocked as she introduced Arielle on to the show.
The DJ burst into laughter before Arielle insisted: "Well I mean, you know, this is what happens. You're out Friday night and then you're out Saturday day, and then you lose your voice."
The chat between the pair left listeners confused as to whether it was a lighthearted conversation or not, but things soon took a bitter turn when Arielle threw a savage dig as she told Charlie that she 'expected better' of her while doing her job.
"Can I be honest with you Charlie? I expected better of you," Arielle said before Charlie snapped: "What as in to sound like the way you do now?".
