Phillip Schofield's future on This Morning could allegedly be in doubts, with reports claiming ITV bosses are considering "reshuffling presenters". The 61 year old, who has hosted the popular daytime show since 2002, could see his regular presenting slot on This Morning cancelled as regular guest host Alison Hammond's popularity continues to soar. Alison, 48, who presents the show on Fridays with Dermot O'Leary, recently filled in for Phillip when he took time off due to his brother Timothy Schofield's court trial and viewers appeared to welcome the change.
According to The Mail on Sunday, ITV bosses have been monitoring social media to see how viewers react to presenters, with many appearing to be in favour of Alison. A source told The Mail On Sunday: "It has put an idea into the heads of ITV chiefs – to bring a bit of 'girl power' to the show. "It's a case of both things colliding.
Fans say they are over Phil and they love Alison." OK! has contacted representatives for This Morning and Phillip Schofield. Phillip still has loyal supporters including This Morning editor Martin Frizell, who is said to have "taken several bullets" for the TV presenter over recent years. However, Alison's popularity has continued to soar and Phillip's co-host Holly Willoughby, 42, is said to "adore" her, with the duo becoming good friends.
Phillip recently had three weeks off from This Morning in April due to his brother's court trial, with Alison and Joel Dommett both filling in for him. He returned to the show on 17 April, but co-host Holly was forced to cancel her appearance after coming down with shingles. Rochelle Humes, 33, filled in for Holly and hosted the shows with Phillip.
