Panto cancelled after being inundated with complaints over 'too adult' content

An 'unprecedented' number of complaints and requests for refunds has seen a theatre in the Midlands cancel shows of an adult pantomime. Bewdley and The Beast 3 was supposed to run for three performances in Worcestershire but was suddenly pulled after its first night.
The Civic theatre in Stourport, on the outskirts of Birmingham said complaints began flooding in via email and on social media after the first afternoon show on Thursday, December 28.
Bosses have now made the rare decision to cancel the rest of the run, Birmingham Live reports. The move has angered the amateur show's organisers, Bewdley Town Criers theatre company, who claimed the production had been 'too adult' for the audience.

Ahead of the panto by Freddie Just, promotions showed panto dame Mrs Chlamydia Palmer talking about the adults only show subtitled Revenge of the Gilgal. It included characters such as Miss Connie Lingus.
One audience member, Stuart Hollis, said: "Sad but the right decision, we left at the interval. It was the most unprofessional thing we have ever seen but accept it was nothing to do with The Civic."
Bewdley Town Criers, responsible for the show, said the panto had been 'too adult' for audiences and moaned that they had not used the "F and C swear words" but the script had "feck" and "count" in it.
The theatre company did admit that the first show had suffered technical issues such as sound problems and started late due to not enough seats being put out.
