An inquest into the death of Jared Perry at Pontypridd Coroners' Court heard evidence about the events leading up to Perry's death at the Princess of Wales hospital in Bridgend on Sunday, November 3, 2019. The 32-year-old was discovered unresponsive in his cell at HMP Parc Prison, Bridgend, around midday on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.
Perry was taken to hospital where he remained in a coma before dying due to complications of hanging. A prison officer told juror that he "should have removed" an item from Perry's cell which he used to harm himself, Wales Online reports.

The jury thus found prison staff had failed to observe Perry, delayed transferring him to a secure mental health unit, and failed to remove an item from his cell that contributed to his death.
Swansea Crown Court head in January 2019 how Perry abused both male and female children before he confessed to his crimes to the police. Perry, of Llanilar, Aberystwyth, admitted to 10 counts of indecent assault and sexual assault on a child under 13.
Some of his victims were as young as a few months old. Perry was described as an "extremely high risk" to children and was given a 17-year sentence comprising of 10 years in prison and an extended seven-year term on licence. The inquest which opened on Monday, March 18 heard evidence from 26 witnesses in total.
10 of those witnesses provided statements for the coroner, Graeme Hughes, to read out. Meanwhile, 16 provided evidence remotely or in person.
