A couple who cried with happiness on A Place in the Sun after buying their dream home have shared a sad update on their holiday property. Caroline and Gary were searching for a three-bedroom property in Valencia, Spain on the Channel 4 show. The pair had a budget of £150,000 and wanted to find the perfect home for their nine children.
Caroline and Gary - who appeared on an episode of the show which aired on 11 March - eventually managed to find an ideal home in Spain and made an offer of £148,000. They became emotional as they viewed the property, which boasted four bedrooms, a bar and a pool.
The couple's offer was accepted immediately, prompting them both to cry. Host Jasmine Harman said it was the "quickest response" the show had "ever had" and she also began to well up.
Caroline and Gary both cried tears of joy as they celebrated their new home. As the credits began to role, Jasmine congratulated the duo. She added: "This feels so right.
It's just like fate. I'm so proud of Caroline and Gary for taking this opportunity to get their dream home in Spain." In an interview on A Place in the Sun's website after filming had finished, Caroline said she was thankful for the show and the help she and her husband had received. She said: "The crew was lovely and Jasmine too.
We definitely wouldn't have ended up going to buy the place if we hadn't gone on the show." She and Gary shared their plans to renovate the property. However, Caroline admitted she was disappointed she hadn't been able to visit the home as often as she originally planned. She said she had only travelled over to Spain once since purchasing the home.
