Outlander's leading lady Caitriona Balfe has opened up on one of the huge twists in the show's seventh season.
The second episode of the historical drama saw the home of Claire Fraser played by Caitriona Balfe and Jamie Fraser played by Sam Heughan go up in flames following a fiery confrontation with Wendigo Donner over the secrets of time travel.
Recently, Caitriona discussed the show's latest twist as well as the behind-the-scenes filming process.
"It's a really sad moment when we say goodbye to that set and that location," she said to Entertainment Weekly, as the stunt meant the exterior set for the Frasers' home was now destroyed.
"But it's such a catalyst for the rest of the season."
She added: "We loved filming in that location. It was one of the most beautiful we've been. We had a three-dimensional facade on location that was completely burnt down."
Sam Heughan was also sad to see the set go up in flames, after all the key moments in the series which had been set there.
"I know it's a TV show, but we still have so many great memories there — Brianna and Roger's wedding, many other great moments being shot there. It was sad to say goodbye," he said.
However, despite being sad about the set's destruction, Caitriona was excited about the opportunity to film an action sequence – revealing it was a "big deal" for her to perform the stunt herself.
The destruction of the Fraser family home wasn't the only tear-jerking moment in the episode, as Brianna and Roger travelled to the future in order for their daughter to have life-saving surgery.
Brianna actress Sophie Skelton recently gave her thoughts on the season, telling fans they should expect a "rough ride" with the new episodes.
