Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe and other members of the Outlander family promised fans an "explosive" seventh season - and that's exactly what they've recieved so far.
In the second episode of the new season - titled 'The Happiest Place on Earth' - Wendigo's ill-fated strike of a match causes Claire and Jamie's home on the Ridge to burst into flames ending in a shock cliffhanger.
In the most recent episode 'Death Be Not Proud' it's revealed Claire and Jamie Fraser, played by Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, made it out of the blaze by the skin of their teeth.
Sam, who has played Jamie Fraser since 2014 told Town and Country mag: "I quite enjoyed the little run and jump."
Catriona added they "didn't let us do it too many times" noting that over the years, the pair have gotten to do less and less of the more dangerous stunt work.
"I think back in season one we used to do a lot more probably because it was a smaller show and they didn't have as much money," she said.
"It's always really fun when you get to do something like that, but it's always very well-prepared and planned and very safe."
However, whilst the stunt work was fun for the pair, they both agreed it was a bittersweet day behind the cameras.
"It was sad to see the house go up in flames metaphorically and physically. It's the end of their home and for Jamie and Claire, it really displaces them and begins the next chapter in their lives," Heughan says.
Executive Producer Maril Davis explained: "We wanted it to be pretty spectacular.
"We needed to wait to film that until we were sure we didn't need anything else because that house wasn't coming back. And also we were losing that location.
"So logistically it was like, 'Okay, do we have everything we need?' And then we're going

Sharareh Drury administrator SPOILER ALERT: This interview contains spoilers from “The Happiest Place on Earth,” Season 7, Episode 2 of “Outlander,” now streaming on Starz. While an epic explosion at Frasier’s Ridge would seem like the most shocking event thus far this season on “Outlander,” the Starz series managed to also pack in a shocking reveal, a bittersweet birth and the series’ most heartbreaking goodbye yet. Moments into “The Happiest Place on Earth,” the mystery of who actually killed Malva (Jessica Reynolds) is finally solved. Despite Tom Christie (Mark Lewis Jones) having taken the blame for his daughter’s murder to save Claire (Caitriona Balfe) from the noose, it was actually his son Allan (Alexander Vlahos) who did it. Claire tries to stop Allan, overcome with grief, from taking his own life but Ian (John Bell) appears and shoots him with an arrow — stating that Allan’s actions killed an unborn child and for that, he cannot live.
Outlander secretly warned us what we were in for ("a startling discovery about Roger and Brianna's newborn daughter; a familiar face returns; explosive consequences at the Ridge…"), but nothing could have prepared us for everything that went down, both literally and figuratively. Written by Toni Graphia and directed by Lisa Clarke, the episode——harkened back to Outlander's early days, when traveling through the Stones was commonplace, and were left with nothing but each other. The episode starts at Fraser's Ridge, with Claire looking well after being captured.
Sam Heughan has spoken candidly about the end of Outlander and said that losing the on-set family will be the 'hardest part'.
