Newcastle United are mulling over the possibility of bringing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips to the club on loan next season, according to reports.
Phillips joined City last summer from Leeds United in a deal worth up to £45m. The 27-year-old England international won the Treble in his first season at the Etihad Stadium as Pep Guardiola's side won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
However, Phillips struggled to make much of an impact in Guardiola's starting team on a regular basis in the 2022/23 campaign. The bulk of his 21 appearances came off the bench and his manager said the midfielder returned from the winter World Cup in Qatar overweight.
Phillips put pen to paper on a six-year contract at City when he joined last summer. Despite still having five years left to run on that deal, speculation surrounds where the midfielder will be plying his trade next season.
