Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips will reportedly stay at the Etihad Stadium despite claims he could leave in search of regular football.
Phillips struggled to break into the City starting XI last season after making the switch from Leeds United in the summer. An unfortunate injury sustained in the friendly against Barcelona kept the 27-year-old out of Pep Guardiola's plans until just before the Qatar World Cup.
Upon his return, Phillips missed out on a couple of games after being deemed 'overweight' by his manager but he soon regained his fitness levels. In the meantime, Rodri was the first-choice for Guardiola and barely put a foot wrong as City claimed the Treble.
It was suggested that Phillips could seek a loan move this summer to earn regular game time. However, according to City Xtra, he is still seen as an important member of the squad. The report claims Phillips was never considered as a potential makeweight in a deal for Declan Rice.

Elsewhere, City are reportedly hopeful they will be able to create a bidding war for their young centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis. The 21-year-old recently captained the England U21s to European glory and spent last season on loan with Vincent Kompany at Burnley.
According to the Evening Standard, West Ham and Fulham are both interested in the young centre-back who is valued at around £15m. With his contract expiring at the end of next season, Harwood-Bellis is keen to resolve his future and the Blues are reportedly ready to cash-in.
