Meghan and Harry have been warned to "really take stock of where they are" by a royal expert following their recent series of setbacks.
The Duke and Duchess' $25m (19.6m) deal with Spotify last month was cancelled last month and they also missed out on an Emmy Award nomination for their explosive Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan.
On top of this, the couple have also recently received the cold shoulder from several Hollywood A-listers including the Clooneys and the Beckhams following the release of their controversial projects.
Their bombshell six-part Netflix series, which was released on the streaming service last December, was highly successful but received mixed reviews as the Sussexes made a series of shocking allegations against the Royal Family.
Prince Harry then added even more fuel to the fire with his debut memoir Spare which was released in January of this year, the Mirror reports.
Spare quickly became the fastest selling non-fiction book of all time but it seems to have now lost its popularity and hundreds of copies of it have been abandoned by readers in hotels across Europe.
Royal expert Pauline Maclaran believes the couple 'have done themselves no favours' with the book's release.
She said: "The whole furore around the Netflix documentary but particularly Harry's memoir, I see that as a more defining moment".
Speaking to The Express, Pauline opined that Spare "became very much an individual focus on Harry who was basically complaining about his royal life. It was an amazing best-seller but it didn't do them any favours.
"At the moment, Harry and Meghan are really taking stock of where they are and where they are going forward."
Pauline, who is professor of marketing and consumer research at Royal Holloway
