Manchester United supporters are urging Erik ten Hag to dip into the transfer market for a centre-back in the final three days of the window.
The message has come after the club confirmed Raphael Varane will be sidelined for a number of weeks through injury. The 30-year-old came off at half-time in Saturday's 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest and was replaced by Victor Lindelof.
The Swede will likely partner Lisandro Martinez in the centre of defence for Sunday’s visit to Arsenal with the defender ahead of Harry Maguire in the pecking order. Varane has suffered multiple injuries since his 2021 arrival.
Last season he missed 16 games through injury and almost missed the World Cup due to a knee problem sustained at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. He ultimately made it to Qatar, where he made the final with France.

He was given an extended break post-final and missed the League Cup clash with Burnley, taking the number of games missed by the Frenchman over the course of the season to 17. United fans are worried about the reliability of Varane going forward.
Maguire looks likely to stay at Old Trafford beyond deadline day but fans are still concerned by the lack of depth at centre-back. Varane and Martinez are Erik ten Hag’s first-choice pair but haven't played together as regularly as he would have liked.
Jonny Evans is in talks over a deal to remain at the club but fans have urged Ten Hag to think about landing a new defender before 11pm on Friday.
