That proved to be enough to secure United maximum points and a fifth win in their last six league games. And it was the points, judging by Ronaldo's post-match social media post, that meant more to him than reaching another historic milestone in his rich and colourful career.
Ronaldo, posting on his Instagram page, said: "Great win guys! Another step in the right direction! #WeStandUnited."
Judging by that, it was the victory that was more satisfying for the 37-year-old than his milestone. He was one of three players dropped to the bench from the 3-2 win over Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus on Thursday night, with Marcus Rashford and Martial preferred in attack alongside Antony.
