A drunk van driver who killed a 19-year-old pedestrian three DAYS after a separate drink-driving arrest should have been give a life sentence, the teenager's devastated mother has said.
Daniel Johnsen had drunk eight pints of lager at a pub and was nearly three times over the drink-driving limit before getting into his van and driving along Habrough Road, Immingham, when he hit Lewis Tuson at 8.50pm on January 30, reports GrimsbyLive. The teenager was hit from behind and suffered "unsurvivable" head injuries.
Johnsen, 34, was jailed for more than nine years at Grimsby Crown Court on Tuesday. Speaking after sentencing, Mr Tuson's mum, Gemma Tasker said: "He should have got life. It should be life for a life."

Shockingly, just three days before the fatal crash, he had been caught in a separate drink-driving incident, when his van collided with a central reservation and travelled on the wrong side of the road. Ms Tasker said that had Johnsen learned from the earlier incident, Lewis would still be here. "it has taken the loss of a life for him to realise his mistake," she added.
Johnsen, of Ashtree Close, Immingham, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol. He had been drinking for around nine hours at The Station Inn, Habrough, having arrived there at 11.30am.
