A man from Manchester has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash that saw a BMW plough into a pedestrian before smashing into a wall.

A man accused of murdering a woman whose body has never been found has been appeared in court. Alisha Apostoloff-Boyarin, 24, from Ashton-under-Lyne, disappeared more than two years ago.
David Alex Taylor, 61, from Durham, has been charged with murder, and appeared at Manchester Crown Court this morning by video link. He was not asked to enter a plea, and the case was adjourned until May.
Alisha was last seen in January 2022 in a gold Volkswagen Passat, being driven through Derbyshire. On January 14 that year, Alisha was seen travelling in the car heading north.

On January 22, 2022, Alisha was again seen travelling in the VW Passat, in the Glossop and Chapel-en-le-Frith area of Derbyshire. She has not been seen or heard from since.
Mr Taylor, of Oak Avenue, Willington, Durham was remanded in custody. Judge Alan Conrad KC told him: "The next hearing in your case will be May 8 when you will be brought to court and asked to enter your plea to this charge.
"Thereafter should the matter come to trial, the trial is fixed for October 2."
