A driver who fled after leaving three people with life-changing injuries in a hit-and-run returned to his smashed-up car to grab suitcases - before flying off to Tenerife. Taylor Moss ploughed his BMW into an oncoming car while attempting to overtake a taxi, before hitting another vehicle.
The 24-year-old fled the scene with his partner while paramedics treated his victims. Callous Moss then returned to his car moments later to retrieve his suitcases before jetting off on a two-week holiday.
Manchester Crown Court heard the incident unfolded at around 1.10am on September 17 last year. Greater Manchester Police was called out to the serious crash involving three vehicles on Rochdale Road, in Oldham.

Following their enquiries, officers established that Moss had been driving on the opposing side of the road in a BMW 116D as he tried to overtake the taxi, before hitting a Toyota Yaris and then another vehicle as his car ricocheted from the smash. Emergency services had to rescue three passengers from the Yaris by dismantling the car.
They were all taken to hospital for treatment for their serious injuries. Moss, of Turf Lane, Oldham, claimed he had not been behind the wheel at the time of the crash.
Instead, he claimed he had been dropped off at the airport by his parents before flying to Tenerife with his partner. Moss also attempted to report the car as stolen while on holiday.
But following further investigation, officers found the DNA of Moss on the airbag of the BMW. GMP described the discovery as 'a billion to one hit of DNA', which established that he had been driving the car at the time of the crash.
