A man has appeared in court charged with murder following a death at a block of flats in Bearsden .
Officers were called to Norwood Park in the East Dunbartonshire town in the early hours of Thursday after a 57-year-old man was discovered inside a property.
Lewis Webster, 21, was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
The Edinburgh man appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday charged with murder.
Webster made no plea and was committed for further examination before being released on bail.
On Monday afternoon neighbours who have lived in the area for years told the Record they were been left shocked by the incident.
One resident said: "I never been scared to live here before in all my years in the area, but after this I am really nervous."
Another resident said: "The full thing has been a major shock.
"No one is telling us anything which makes it more frightening.
"There's police on the fourth floor. I wish we had more answers."
A third resident said: "This is a very quiet area it's mostly older folks so I can't believe what has happened.
Other residents paid tribute to the 57-year-old who has been described as quiet.
One said: "The man who died was very quiet and kept to himself but he was always really pleasant.
"I just can't believe this sort of thing has happened so close by."
Another said: "The chap that died was very quiet but I thought he was friendly.
"It's really sad."
