In yet another disturbing incident of an audience member disrupting a public event, a man walked onto the stage at a Forbes panel featuring Machine Gun Kelly, startling the rapper-entrepreneur who quickly rose to his feet and said, “My man, get the f*ck away from me.”
The incident occurred Tuesday at the Forbes Under 30 Summit at the Cleveland Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio. Machine Gun Kelly, aka Colson Baker, was speaking to Forbes Senior Editor Kristin Stoller when, as seen in video of the event (see below), a young man walked onto the stage, startling both Baker and Stoller.
Baker stood up and, facing the intruder, calmly said, “My man, get the f*ck away from me. Yo, what are you doing? What are you doing? This is a bad look. Don’t make me do this.” The intruder was quickly restrained by security guards as the panel livestream briefly cut out.
The as-yet-unidentified intruder said, “I got you, man. I want to help you out here.”
When the livestream returned, the rapper was once again seated on the couch, and told the audience, “I’m sorry. I try to live the dichotomy more on this side than the other guy. I left that guy in the past, I’m really sorry…I do apologize for my primal reaction.” Stoller said, “You handled that amazingly, by the way.”
In August, a man later identified as Chad Michael Busto, 43, rushed the stage at a 92nd Street Y panel event featuring Drew Barrymore, saying “Drew Barrymore! I’m Chad Michael Busto. I need to see you at some point while you’re in New York…” The man was halted by security, and four days later was arrested in Southampton, New York, after going door to door in the neighborhood where Barrymore has a home.
