‘Lando’: Donald & Stephen Glover Replace Justin Simien As Writers On Upcoming ‘Star Wars’ Disney+ Series

Justin Simien directed Haunted Mansion for Disney based on the theme park’s attraction of the same name. The filmmaker is now opening up about another Disneyland attraction he would like to adapt into a film and it’s Michael Jackson’s Captain EO.

As a former Imagineering intern, Gilford had learned first-hand how the Disneyland attractions were conceived. Gilford’s design entry point for the film was a bible devoted to the ride from Imagineering.

Justin Simien is having a busy weekend. Not only did his most recent feature film, the big-budget “Haunted Mansion” film from Disney, debut in theaters, but there was also news that he was being replaced by Donald And Stephen Glover as writers of the “Lando” series coming to Disney+.

Glover and his brother Stephen Glover will write the series with plans to write the series as if Donal will reprise the role he first appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The Haunted Mansion is a dark ride attraction located at Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, and Tokyo Disneyland. The ride is set in a large, creaky mansion that is rumored to be haunted by the ghosts of its former residents. Riders are led through a series of rooms, each of which is decorated with creepy props and features a different ghostly encounter. Some of the most famous scenes in the ride include the Ballroom, where a group of ghosts are dancing, the Conservatory, where a casket floats in mid-air, and Madame Leota’s Séance Room, where a disembodied head floats in a crystal ball. Someone at Disney decided this was enough substance to turn this into a feature film. Not sure why.

Star Wars’ Lando Calrissian show starring Donald Glover will not be happening anytime soon it seems. Even the writers are saying that they have “no clue” what is going on. The last update that writer Justin Simien got about the show was in the year 2020.
