Manchester United academy director Nick Cox has warned Kobbie Mainoo and the club's supporters not to get carried away by his stratospheric rise.
The academy graduate is poised to make his first start for England when they face Belgium at Wembley on Tuesday. He made his debut for the Three Lions as a second half substitute against Brazil on Saturday, playing 15 minutes.
Mainoo, who hails from Stockport, has enjoyed a stellar season so far despite it not getting under way until November because of injury. He has made 20 appearances in all competitions, including 12 successive Premier League starts.

As a result the excitement levels surrounding his development have soared. But Cox has reminded everyone to remember the starlet is only 18-years-old.
"For Kobbie, this is clearly another landmark moment in a season with many of them," Cox told United's club website. "I'd remind him and the United fans who are rightly excited about his talent that it's still early days in his career.
"Kobbie's in a great place at the moment, ready for the hard work ahead. There may be some setbacks on the way to reaching his full potential. He'll know that and we hope we've prepared him well to ride those hurdles and continue fulfilling his dreams."
Mainoo is not the only academy graduate to have made their international debut at senior level during this current hiatus; James Scanlon made his first appearance for Gibraltar. The 17-year-old was a second half substitute in their 1-0 defeat to Lithuania last week.
