Manchester City defender John Stones said there was a sense of deflation inside the dressing room following their 1-1 draw with Premier League title rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
In a contest that saw both sides throw everything at it in pursuit of maximum points, Liverpool recovered from a goal down to earn themselves a point, thanks to a second half penalty from Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentine cancelled out Stones' first half opener after City goalkeeper Ederson conceded a penalty.
The Brazilian clattered into Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez just three minutes into the second half, gift-wrapping the home side an opportunity to pull themselves level. City had enjoyed the better of the play and the chances prior to the break, getting their noses in front after Stones turned in an excellent corner delivery from Kevin De Bruyne.

Having been in control of proceedings at the interval, Stones was disappointed with the way in which City surrendered control after the break. Liverpool enjoyed the better of the play and caused no shortage of problems for City's rearguard.
Asked if he felt City had the game under control, Stones told Sky Sports: "I think so, yes. We created quite a lot of chances early on in the game and we probably could have done better and maybe been two or three up.
"But that's football and we knew what we were coming into coming here and the opposition we were playing. I think we feel a bit deflated in the dressing room; we came here to win.
"But we got a point out of the game and this is such a difficult place to come, we knew that. We gave everything out there.
