John Lewis' eagerly anticipated Christmas advert has officially been unveiled - and some shoppers have had a bit of a mixed response.
The department store's heartwarming and sometimes emotional commercials are usually a popular hit with shoppers during the holiday season. However, this year's unique story, which features a Venus fly trap, has been met with a bit more of a mixed reception.
As reported by the Mirror, some fans took to Twitter (now X) as they haven't been too impressed by the latest one which was released in full today, comparing it to the 1986 film The Little Shop of Horrors.
One person said: "So what they’re saying is John Lewis is actually the Little Shop of Horrors? Love the ad tho, especially the music, v funny".
Another penned: "What on EARTH is that John Lewis advert."
While a third added: "Omg the new John Lewis Christmas ad is absolutely nuts. And not for those brought up with The Triffids and Little Shop of Horrors".
The department store's advert usually features a different theme every year, with this year's ad telling the story of a young boy, Alfie, who purchases a "Grow Your Own Christmas Tree" from a car boot sale he visited with his gran.
However, after nurturing and growing his plant, he is surprised to find out that it is instead Snapper the Venus fly trap, which in turns causes chaos after growing too big for the living room.
However, Alfie isn't happy with this outcome and feels bad for the plant he's spent so much time growing. He then steps outside on Christmas morning to give Snapper a present, with his family following behind soon after.
