Selome Hailu Jenna Ortega may already play the title role in “Wednesday,” but in Season 2, she’ll be taking even more ownership of the project. The 20-year-old star has been elevated to a producing role on the smash hit Netflix series, and during a conversation with Elle Fanning for Variety‘s Actors on Actors, she revealed some of her biggest priorities for the next installation. “We’ve decided we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more,” Ortega told Fanning. “Because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously.” “We’re ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday, which is really great,” she added, referring to the Season 1 storyline that saw Wednesday in a love triangle between Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) and Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White). In the past, Ortega has commented that the plot “made no sense” for her character.

After showcasing a refreshing, genre-blending format in Season 1, “The Afterparty” is back for a second season and — you guessed it — someone dies, again. Sex and the City’s longtime cast members has shared his thoughts on the much-discussed return of Kim Cattrall, following her feud with series lead star, Sarah Jessica Parker. Evan Handler, who plays Harry Goldenblatt, the husband of Kristin Davis’s main character Charlotte York, reacted after it was confirmed that Cattrall will have a cameo appearance in the second series of And Just Like That, the rebooted series following the SATC characters in middle age. Naman Ramachandran Female Film Club (FCC), an online members club for female filmmakers and creatives, has partnered with French production company Sisterland Connect to advocate for women in film on an international scale. Sisterland Studio and Sisterland Connect bowed at Cannes earlier this week with the launch of an investment fund and production company for women in industry which will target a total of €35 million ($37.5 million) and have already begun the process of curating a selection of films made by women. Directed by Marc Fitoussi (“Call My Agent”) the French comedy stars Scott Thomas alongside Olivia Côte (“My Donkey”) and “Call My Agent’s” Laure Calamy. Set in present-day Paris and Greece, “Two Tickets to Greece” tells the story of recently-divorced Blandine (Côte), who is struggling to put her life back together. She is persuaded by her loud and fearless friend Magalie (Calamy) to head to the Greek island of Amorgos, which they’ve dreamed of visiting since they were teenagers. It’s only once the two women arrive they realize that their different approaches to life mean their dreamy holiday won’t go as planned, especially once Magalie’s pal Bijou (Scott Thomas) arrives on the scene.
