James Gunn Says Drew Goddard, Jeremy Slater & More Are Helping Him Craft The New DCU

James Gunn is answering fan questions on Twitter and giving hints about Superman and Batman as he and Peter Safran take control of the DC Universe.

At the end of last month, DC Studios co-heads James Gunn, and Peter Safran revealed their grand plans for the future of the DCEU.

Daniel Sunjata (Echoes) has been tapped as the male lead opposite Kaitlin Olson in ABC‘s character-based procedural drama pilot based on TF1’s popular detective series HPI (High Intellectual Potential), from top TV and film writer Drew Goddard and ABC Signature, where Goddard and his Goddard Textiles are based.

In case you’re not very terminally online, you may have missed this story and rumor. And to be fair, we do try and ignore some of these wild rumors, but this one has been so crazy it’s prompted DC Studios co-chief James Gunn to respond.

Well, that was quick. Just about 24 hours after the unveiling of the DC Studios “Chapter 1” slate of five films and five series, we already have news regarding the filmmaker behind one of the new features.

While yesterday’s DC Studios “Chapter 1” film and TV slate announcement did give a surprising amount of information about what the studio is working on moving forward, it didn’t answer all of the questions fans have.

As the DC Universe enters Chapter One of its era under bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran, Zachary Levi created quite the “fury” on social media after tweeting a message that was anti-Pfizer.

It’s not controversial to say that DC films, before James Gunn and Peter Safran took over, were an absolute mess. Not only were many of the films underperforming at the box office and getting savaged by critics, but there was also a complete lack of continuity, with characters appearing on CW shows as well as massive $200 million films.

Earlier today, when the first “Chapter” of DC Studios’ master plan was announced, it was made clear that the upcoming film, “The Flash,” is set to be the official device that will rewrite the universe and clear the playing field for James Gunn and Peter Safran, as they plan the future of the DCU. However, “The Flash” is an interesting film without that end result.

As part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s unveiling of their new DC Universe Chapter One, “Gods and Monsters”, the twosome announced theatrical release dates for the Gunn penned Superman Legacy, that being July 11, 2025 and Matt Reeves’ DC else-world Batman II which is Oct. 3, 2025.

Well, DC Studios co-chief James Gunn promised that the new DC slate that he and his partner Peter Safran came up with would be announced before the end of January, and on the last day of the month, down to the wire, Gunn has made good on that promise. Today, Gunn, Safran, and Warner Bros.
