James Gunn Clarifies Superman & Batman’s Ages For ‘Superman: Legacy’ & ‘The Brave And The Bold’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director James Gunn is the new co-head of DC Studios, where he’s shepherding a new DC Universe that will include movies about Superman, Supergirl and more, but first Gunn will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the release of his trilogy-ending “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.” The new Marvel tentpole pits the eponymous superhero gang against the High Evolutionary, played by Chukwudi Iwuji. The villain is Rocket’s creator and is hellbent on creating a special race of enhanced beings. Gunn recently celebrated Chukwudi Iwuji’s introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe by posting to social media a photo of the High Evolutionary with the following caption: “Can’t wait for you all to meet this guy.”

In case you’re not very terminally online, you may have missed this story and rumor. And to be fair, we do try and ignore some of these wild rumors, but this one has been so crazy it’s prompted DC Studios co-chief James Gunn to respond.

While yesterday’s DC Studios “Chapter 1” film and TV slate announcement did give a surprising amount of information about what the studio is working on moving forward, it didn’t answer all of the questions fans have.

For many folks, when they found out that James Gunn and Peter Safran were taking over as co-CEOs of DC Studios, the assumption was that Gunn would lead the way with creative and craft the DC Universe in his image. Well, clearly, that’s panning out a bit like that, as Gunn recently confirmed that he is writing (and possibly directing) “Superman: Legacy” and has already written “Creature Commandos” and is obviously heavily involved in the other new projects.
