Following Grace Dent's early exit from I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, Richard Madeley has spoken out about his own early departure from the ITV show, revealing it left him feeling "frustrated". Richard, 67, appeared on I'm A Celeb in 2021, when the show took place in Gwrych Castle in North Wales due to the pandemic. He was forced to leave camp after just five days due to a late night hospital dash, which saw him break the 'COVID bubble' in camp.
On Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, 28 November, he opened up about his exit as he and co-host Susanna Reid discussed Grace's premature exit. "Well Grace left because she wanted to leave. Clearly, she didn't look happy.
I was actually having a really good time, I was enjoying myself," Richard said. Explaining what happened on the ITV show, he continued: "I had this funny turn at about four/five in the morning and it turned out I was dehydrated. So yeah, but I was alright.
I went to the local hospital and they checked me over. "They said 'You're just dehydrated, there we go. You can go back.' But because we had the covid issue at the time, I'd broken the bubble so I couldn't go back in.
Richard added: "I felt really disappointed. I remember driving myself back from North Wales, back to London, really frustrated." It was announced on Monday, 27 November that Grace, 50, had left camp on medical grounds, and she was later pictured at Brisbane Airport as she jetted back to London. Confirming her exit, an ITV spokesperson said: "Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds.
