Golden Age film fans are in for a real treat this week, as Disney actress Hayley Mills returns to our screens over 60 years after making her debut performance all the way back in 1959. The 77 year old actress is best known to fans for playing twins Susan and Sharon in the 1960s Disney classic The Parent Trap, but the highly versatile star also went on to star in numerous other films for the company over the years including Pollyanna, Whistle Down the Wind, Summer Magic and even the Moon Spinners.
Now, in a welcome change of pace from her Hollywood roots, Hayley will once again be returning to our screens in Death in Paradise, when a game of bingo at a care home ends in murder. Early Life Hayley Catherine Rose Vivien Mills was born on 18 April 1946, the daughter of acting legend Sir John Mills and Mary Hayley Bell. Starting her career as a child actress at a very young age, Hayley followed in the footsteps of her older sister Juliet Mills, who herself was a prominent young starlet.
She began acting at the age of 12 when she was cast by J. Lee Thompson to take on the lead in Tiger Bay alongside her father, however, despite initially looking for a boy to play the role, he was so impressed by Hayley’s potential he immediately gave her the part instead!
