The next academy player to make their debut for Manchester United will be the 250th youngster to achieve that dream after progressing through the youth ranks.

Making a debut for United, the biggest club in England, is an outstanding achievement and it's something that James Weir looks back on with great fondness.
Weir's debut came during Louis van Gaal's time in charge when he was thrown into the deep end in an enthralling encounter against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The only caveat was his cameo lasted just 60 seconds. “Usually, you start warming up after 25 minutes or go for a little run to get the manager’s attention, but it was different with Van Gaal,” Weir said in an interview with Planet Football.
