A mum who was homeless with two children is hoping to be crowned a beauty queen after getting through to the finals of a major pageant.
Hannah Alassiri, from Moston, is set to compete in the Miss Universe Great Britain pageant in July having made it into the top 40 contestants.
The student midwife entered the competition just after New Year as it was always her “childhood dream” to take part.

Incredibly, the 30-year-old discovered she had made it through to the Great British finals just a few weeks later – leaving her “in tears” and “dancing around the house”.
If Hannah is crowned Miss Universe GB in July, with the event being held in Newport in Wales, she will go on to represent Great Britain in the Miss Universe finals in Mexico later this year.
“I watch it every year without fail,” she told the Manchester Evening News. “It’s a childhood dream.
“I thought, I’ll apply and see what happens, I’d been putting it off all year. At the end of January, when they announced who got through, I couldn’t believe I had got through out of thousands. I was dancing around the house.
“I was in tears because it’s just a dream. I just feel like I’ve had a really hard time and something good has finally happened.”
Alongside her pageant dreams, Hannah is also competing for the title of Miss British Isles, with the finals set to take place this April. The mum has already been named Miss Elegance and Miss Swimsuit City of Manchester.
Hannah first started competing in pageants at the age of 16 but stopped after losing confidence. She says she experienced homelessness as a single mum before she found work and saved for her own place in Moston.
