Fire rips through Glasgow takeaway as emergency crews race to the scene

A huge blaze tore through a Glasgow takeaway today sparking an emergency response.
Fire crews raced to the scene of the inferno at Freddie's Food Club on Great Western Road in Knightswood shortly after 8.30am today.
Four appliances were scrambled to the scene as flames burst through the roof of the local takeaway, which shares a block with a Keystore, a Ladbrokes and the Lincoln pub.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland remain on site but there are no reports of any casualties at this stage.
Footage from the scene shows fire ripping through the top of the building as thick smoke billows into the sky. Three fire engines are visible and one police car, as emergency crews battle to get the inferno under control.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 8.34am on Thursday, January 2, to reports of a building fire at Great Western Road, Glasgow.
“Operations Control immediately mobilised two appliances and one aerial appliance to the scene and on arrival firefighters found a fire within a commercial premises.
“A further two appliances, were mobilised and crews remain on scene as they work to extinguish the fire. No casualties have been reported.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are currently in attendance at a fire which was reported at 8.45am on Thursday, 2 February from a premises on Great Western Road, Glasgow.
“Police are assisting with traffic management and local road closures are in place.”
