Cops have released a detailed description of an unknown woman who is fighting for her life in hospital after being hit by a car in Glasgow city centre.
Officers are still seeking to identify the injured woman after she was struck by a grey VW Tiguan at around 8.15pm on Elmbank Street at its junction with St Vincent Street on Thursday, February 2.
Mercy crews sped to the scene and the victim was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition. The driver of the car, a 57-year-old man, was not hurt.
Extensive enquiries are underway to find out who the woman is so her family can be notified of the incident. Officers say she is aged between 50-60 years old and has shoulder length brown hair, which was tied back.
She was wearing a long cream coloured jacket with a large fur hood on the night in question. She was also wearing blue jeans and brown boots. She walked with a clear limp to her left leg and may be from the local area.
It comes after a woman tragically died after being knocked down by a vehicle at around 7.40pm on the same night, just a short walk away on St Vincent Street.
The collision involved two vehicles and a pedestrian. A woman, 28, was arrested in connection with the event but has been released pending enquiries. The road was closed for several hours while an investigation was carried out.
Speaking about the Elmbank Street crash, Sergeant James Crawford, of the Road Policing Unit in Glasgow, said: “It is imperative we find out who this woman is so we can contact her family and let them know what has happened.
