England regular Phillips joined the treble-winners for £45million from Leeds United last summer. The move hasn't gone entirely to plan for the midfielder, despite the 28-year-old winning three medals in his debut season at the Etihad Stadium after leaving his boyhood club.
Phillips started for only the second time this campaign - his sixth overall - when City defeated Crvena Zvezda 3-2 on Wednesday night in Belgrade. He even scored his first goal for the Blues from the penalty spot, but Phillips and City are being tipped to part ways in January.
