Erik ten Hag admits Anthony Elanga will pose a threat for Manchester United’s back line against Nottingham Forest.
The winger secured a £15m switch from Old Trafford to the East Midlands club this summer and is already preparing to take on his former employers. The Sweden international is yet to start for Forest but bagged an assist in his club’s opening day defeat to Arsenal.
Elanga failed to find favour under Ten Hag at United last season, starting just seven of his 26 appearances. The academy graduate was deemed surplus to requirements as the Reds tried to build cash reserves for new arrivals this window, although Ten Hag is well aware of the havoc he can wreak.
“He’s a kid from Manchester United and he will be really excited about his return,” the United boss said of Elanga when speaking to club media. “He is a great player and offensively a very attractive player as well.

Elanga left United after making 55 senior appearances, netting four goals and assists. Speaking about his transfer earlier this month, the 21-year-old said: “I feel like I’ve been ready and this is a big step up for me and that I wanted and needed in my career. It’s the right time for me to come here [to Forest].”
If played, the left flanker will likely come up against old teammate Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back with Diogo Dalot potentially filling in at left-back amid injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
