Manchester United were hoping for plenty of permanent outgoings this summer, though there were fewer takers for their available players than they'd hoped.
That being said, plenty of players did complete temporary loan moves away from Old Trafford, and we've picked out four of them to take a look at their chances of breaking into the first-team fold should they return to the club.
Alvaro Fernandez (Granada CF)
Injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia might have presented the young Spaniard with his big chance.
However, the club instead signed Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon on loan as an emergency replacement for those two players and Fernandez headed for a temporary exit. You would think that paints a dark picture with regard to his long-term prospects, but a decent stint in La Liga could see his stock rise with United manager Ten Hag.

Will Fish (Hibernian)
The defender is starting up his second consecutive season north of the border.
Fish, 20, played 21 matches for the Edinburgh club last season and has already totted up 10 this campaign. Hibs have conceded a staggering 21 goals during that sequence - although eight were stuck past them by Aston Villa alone in two Europa League qualifying games. Fish made one senior appearance for United as a teenager when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was manager.
Charlie McNeill (Stevenage)
McNeill has enjoyed a perfect start to life with the League One new boys. The 19-year-old scored on his debut as Stevenage swept aside fellow promotion-winners Leyton
