This year’s Streamys, produced by Dick Clark Productions and Tubefilter will take place Sunday, Aug. 27, starting at 6 p.m. PT live on the Streamy Awards’ YouTube channel and social accounts. The 2023 ceremony will be hosted by MatPat, creator of the Game Theorists, whose channels have in aggregate more than 36 million subscribers. “Hosting the Streamy Awards is like getting to throw a party for people I admire and whose content I love, and I’m thrilled to emcee an event that means so much in the community,” MatPat said in a statement.

Netflix weighed in with 103 mentions. “Succession” raked in 27 bids, including a history-making troika of noms in the lead actor drama category for Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong. Last year the series grabbed 25 nominations and went all the way to take the top prize for drama series. Also adding heft to HBO’s tally this year was the acclaimed freshman drama “The Last of Us,” with 24,” and “The White Lotus” at 23.

The host of the ceremony has yet to be announced. The two-night Creative Arts Emmys are scheduled for Sept. 9 and Sept. 10, with the ceremonies being broadcast by FXX on Sept. 10. Since the Emmys deadline closed on May 31, popular shows like Netflix’s “Black Mirror” and Season 2 of Hulu’s The Bear” are not eligible this year.

For someone like cooking TV personality Matty Matheson, the latter can be terrifying. “Acting scares the shit out of me,” said Matheson, actor and executive producer on FX’s acclaimed restaurant dramedy series “The Bear.” On the show, Matheson plays Neil Fak, better known simply as Fak, the childhood friend of Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and Carmy’s cousin Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). Fak is sensitive and sweet and sometimes spacey, but does his best in both seasons to keep first the Beef and then the Bear running as a handyman and server.

There won’t be a TCA Summer Tour this year, but the Television Critics Association is out with the nominees for its 39th annual TCA Awards.
