Easyjet has apologised after a passenger who missed his flight when he realised he had lost his passport was left 'stranded' inside Manchester Airport for three hours.
Tom Solan, 52, only realised when he got to the gate at Terminal 1 for his flight to Cyprus that his passport was missing. It meant he missed the New Year's Eve departure and his holiday.
The English teacher, who lives in Malaga, Spain, said he was told by an airline representative to head to another gate where another official would be able to escort him out of the building and back 'landside' even without his travel document.

But that help never arrived, according to Tom, who described how he feared his diabetes would flare up amid the stress of trying to contact someone from the airline and secure an escape from the terminal. He said he even called the police and in the end he managed to contact the airline's ground handling agent who sent an official to help.
Eventually Tom was able to leave the terminal, three hours after the drama started. Easyjet has now apologised.
Tom told the M.E.N: "I was about to board at 1.05pm and I knew I would need my passport but I could not find it. These things happen. I've never lost a passport before. I have a laptop bag and I always keep it in a zip pocket. There's a possibility it did fall out when I took my phone out of my bag."
He added: "I checked everywhere. I went back to security and they x-rayed everything to try and find it. They were very helpful. I didn't find it. They went through absolutely everything. They suggested I go back to the lounge. I searched absolutely everywhere and didn't find it."
