Just days after arriving on our screens as the Queen Vic’s new landlady, EastEnders newcomer Elaine Peacock has already attracted the suspicion of many fans, as they predict she will have a major role to play in the upcoming Christmas Day murder plot. Since arriving last week, Elaine, who is the mother of Walford favourite Linda Carter, has already ruffled a few feathers, including Sharon Watts and Nish Panesar, as she beat them in the race to become the new co-owner of the iconic Albert Square pub.
In fact, after locking horns with Nish last week, Elaine was almost certain Nish was behind the subsequent break-in at the Queen Vic. Nish had initially been planning to go into business with Linda, but the doting daughter soon trumped his offer in favour of doing business with her mum, something that didn’t go down too well with the Panesar family.
Following the news of the deal, Elaine even called out Nish in front of the whole pub as she told him: "I know men like you, men who think a nice suit and a wide smile will hide the fact that inside they feel small.” The comment sparked a backlash from Nish’s wife Suki, who poked fun at Linda’s alcoholism before mocking the new landlady directly - a move which soon got the couple barred. However, in retaliation for the comments Elaine also remarked on the state of Nish’s marriage while hinting that she is more than aware of the abusive control he has over his wife.
“You've been sitting there in silence that long. I was trying to work out whether you were the ventriloquist or the dummy,” Elaine retorted.
