Gardening expert Fiona Jenkins from MyJobQuote has revealed that if you opt for more natural colours on your fence - such as sage green - then they will visually enlarge the landscape and trick your eyes into thinking the garden is bigger than it actually is.
Fiona said: "Soft green fencing creates visual continuity in your garden, especially if your garden contains plenty of green border plants."
The expert also said that it "visually extends the landscape", and blurs garden boundaries, "creating a feeling of expansiveness".
The gardening guru also noted some gorgeous flowers that will brighten your space up this spring - such as Camellias, Daphnes, Bergenias and Hyacinths. If you plant them in the coming days then these flowers will bloom by the time the weather warms up - and will become a focal point of your garden.
Fiona also recommended painting the fence light blue to imitate the colour of the sky if you aren't a fan of more neutral colours. She said that by painting your fence blue, you will "create the colour of an expansive overhead space".
