Morrisons has announced a significant change to rules regarding its afternoon shopping hours at all of its supermarkets. Shoppers walking the aisles during the afternoon will now notice a calming silence, as the retailer expands its quiet hours initiative.
This initiative helps people who might otherwise struggle in a supermarket environment by reducing noise levels and other stimuli. Currently, the supermarket operates these quiet hours from 9am to 10am on Saturdays, and during the first hour of trading on Sundays.
Now, this will be extended across their more than 1700 stores in the UK to also incorporate the period of 2pm to 3pm, Monday to Thursday. This announcement coincides with World Autism Acceptance Week (April 2 to April 8) and will make Morrisons' stores more autism-friendly for six days of the week, reports the Mirror.

Customers are informed about the quiet hours through posters that are placed outside the store. Charlotte Exell, Business Sponsor of Ability at Morrisons, commented on this extending policy: "The weekly shop can be a daunting task for those who may struggle with noises associated with it, from the crashing of trollies to loud voices and music.
"At Morrisons we are always looking for more ways to support customers, the Quieter Hour is incredibly popular in our stores across the nation so
