Emmerdale fans are convinced they've worked out a new storyline, which could see many villagers' lives put at risk. Fans of the ITV soap have been sharing their predictions for what's to come in the Dales on social media, with many thinking another 'big catastrophe' is in the pipeline. Emmerdale has seen a number of big disasters occur over the years, such as the 1994 plane crash which made for memorable viewing, while the Beckindale Air Disaster saw four villagers killed off, along with the entirety of the Hutchinson family.
We've also watched serial killers wreck havoc on the villager, as well as huge storms and flooding in The Woolpack. Back in 2015, the village was left in ruins following a helicopter crash which claimed the life of Val Pollard, and the following year Mill Cottage was caught in an explosion in terrifying scenes. Emmerdale fans now think another catastrophe could be on the way, having spotted a key location which could be used in the scenes - the old mining shaft.
It wouldn't be the first time in the mine has taken centre stage, as back in 1978, it featured in a storyline involving Reverend Hinton and his son Clive. Determined to extract valuable deposits from the mine, Clive set off with Ian Hepton and Rod Blake to let off a controlled explosion. However, the plan went wrong and Clive and Rod were left unconscious.
Both survived, yet the community was left stunned by the events. Fans have been sharing their theories about the mine on Reddit and some think a disaster at the mine shaft could result in several cast members losing their lives in a sad storyline. One fan penned: “Maybe something like a mining disaster.
